Spring Break in St. George, Ut

I am slow getting these posted, but loved our little trip to St. George, Utah over spring break. The weather could have been warmer, but at least we didn't get rained on. Driving through a blizzard in Cedar City that almost ended the trip, I was worried that we had spent time and money for the same weather we were having in Cache Valley. Thankfully, the blizzard was confined to the Cedar City area and St. George was sunny and almost warm!
St. George Tabernacle.

Loved the beautiful architectural details of the tabernacle. This woodwork is a relief of grapes and cotton blossoms, both grown in St. George back in the day.

I also loved this staircase. It is a free standing staircase. The pioneers never cease to amaze me with their talents in building the most beautiful structures!

The "all-seeing-eye". Personally, I think this is a bit weird, but the pioneers were way into it! This painting and the plaque below it are on the wall just behind the pulpit. I think this would be distracting to me!

The free-standing staircase, and Trevor!

The front of the tabernacle. The "all-seeing-eye" is blocked by the chandelier. Below is a close-up of the pulpit. This is where Lorenzo Snow told the St. George saints that if they would pay their tithes and fast offerings, the "windows of heaven would open" and they would receive rain. You've all probably seen the filmstrip. There was a terrible drought in St. George at the time and the crops were failing.

I loved the gorgeous chandeliers in the tabernacle. Views from directly below the chandelier and from the side.

The chairs are original and so beautiful. They actually recline (somewhat like the ones we have in theaters now) for comfort. Very forward-thinking pioneers.
